Google My Business

Google, the most important search engine in the United States, controls over 85% of all internet searches. Whether individuals search on their desktop, mobile phone, or tablet, Google is most likely the place people turn when they want to search for something online. Your website, if optimized correctly, will be listed and documented on Google for the world to see. For free!

Lean your head back right now, close your eyes, and think about having the entire world at your fingertips. It’s powerful, and you’ll want to present yourself and your business in the best possible way, right? You wouldn’t wear flip flops and a tank top to Sunday service, right?

Following further down the Google path, Google My Business is a product that allows you to list your business on Google. It’s like the Yellow Pages – it is so important. And like the Yellow Pages, you can post your address, phone number, logo, and a business description.

But there’s more.

You can add pictures, videos, give business updates, and more. You can even get app notifications if people interact with your business. All for free.

One might say a Google My Business listing is one of the most important properties you can claim online. Even if you don’t have a brick and mortar, you can list your business, and even hide the exact address if you don’t want to share it (i.e. if you work from home).

Here are the steps to create a great Google My Business listing:

  1. Visit Google My Business
  2. Build out your business profile, hours, add your website, describe your business
  3. Add pictures
  4. Create post updates about your business (Like a Facebook post)

Campaign Performance on Google My Business

If you’re getting traffic, that’s great, but think about ways you can push yourself further. Look to add a “promotion” or “event.” You may be able to drive more activity and leads to your business. That’s a win!

Add Offers to Your GMB Page

By taking the time to claim your business, and build out your business profile, your business will be more professional, and be seen by Google as trustworthy. I highly recommend utilizing Google My Business as a way to show the world not only who you are, but who you want to be.
