Search Engine Optimization

First thing’s first, your business needs to be listed with Google’s Business Profile (AKA Google My Business) and Bing Places for Business. These listings will allow you to showcase everything pertinent about your business: address, website, photos, reviews, and more. The listings are free, and will help your site’s SEO almost immediately.

Focus On “On-Page” Content

A great way to make sure all of your website’s pages are optimized correctly is to use an SEO plugin – one that we love is called Yoast. You’ll be able to add a keyphrase (aka keyword), an SEO title, the slug, and a meta description. This is how each page will show up on search engine results pages.

When you think about SEO, it incorporates other things than titles and meta tags. It’s also the content you put out. If your content is engaging, thoughtful, and purposeful, search engines will refer traffic to your site. This is “free” traffic, although the content you create might not be. Think about your personal expertise, do keyword research, and create meaningful content that your target audience will love. Share and link to it on social media and on other websites. This will help you get a backlink, aka another website that links to your site.

Ahrefs

For those that are looking to get a bit more technical, Ahrefs may be for you. This is a fantastic tool that allows you to see your website’s health score, along with any errors that may be present. It is pricey, but it allows you to check out your site’s backlinks, what your competitors are doing, and much more. It’s advanced, and awesome!

You can see your website’s domain rating, referring domains, backlinks, organic traffic, and organic keywords. It’s a technical tool; dig in, see how your site is doing, and start making optimizations. When you put effort into SEO, it can pay off big time with huge organic reach.
