YouTube Ad Placements

Off

You may have seen Google in the news recently as their stock took a hit due to missing analysts’ revenue estimates. The New York Times wrote, “Alphabet on Tuesday reported a net profit of $13.9 billion in the third quarter, down 27 percent from a year earlier, while revenue climbed 6 percent to $69.1 billion.” Boy oh boy, they are really hurting!

“Alphabet executives said on a call with analysts that they had seen less ad spending for insurance, loans, mortgages and crypto, as well as fewer gaming ads.” This checks out to us at HBT Digital, but Google is not sitting back after taking a hit, they’re steadily improving their ad channels.

YouTube advertising is making a strong push to improve the quality of the advertisements prospects see by making them more prominent on the channel. By improving ad quality and combining incredible targeting (by keyword, placement on YouTube Channels, interests, and those “in-market” [aka ready to buy]), can you really afford to not be advertising on YouTube?

We’ve taken a few snapshots of ad changes below – check them out!

Previous Ad Placements – For Context

Homepage Ad

Some people receive a YouTube video link and click to watch it immediately. But what about those that go to YouTube without a specific video in-mind? How about a Homepage ad!

Now when you go to the YouTube homepage, there’s an ad at the very first video selection spot. With a headline, description, and colorful image, it’s easy to see the advertiser and become aware of their product/service.

Right Sidebar Ads

YouTube double downed on the ad placements on the right side of the screen. Check out the two ad placements, one takes a very prominent position, and the one below it is listed with other relevant videos.

Bumper and In-Stream Ads

See how this ad is an improvement over the “previous ad creative” listed above? The ad bubble is more prominent, and to us looks like an iPhone text bubble. The URL is listed twice, once in the bubble and below it. It’s more eye-catching.

There are a myriad of ways to advertise on YouTube to reach your target audience. Before launching ads, make sure to have engaging creative, an offer, a campaign specific landing page, and the appropriate bid selections.
